Where to Stay in Lenzerheide: Valbella Resort Family Guide

If you are looking for a relaxing and fun family vacation in Switzerland, the Valbella Resort in Lenzerheide (Canton Graubünden) is an excellent choice. For our trip this spring, we decided to splurge on a stay at this four-star Swiss Family Hotel as a birthday gift to ourselves. We spent three nights taking in the beautiful alpine views, and the combination of indoor play spaces, outdoor activities, and incredible food was the perfect mix of fun for the kids and relaxation for us.

Family-Friendly Outdoor Amenities

The resort features a large garden area with many different zones designed for both fun and relaxation.

  • Outdoor Pool & Lounge: Located in the central garden, the fenced outdoor swimming pool is surrounded by a rock pond with cozy, shaded seating areas. While a bit chilly during our May visit, it is a great spot for the summer months.
  • Children’s Playground: Nestled in the central garden space, the playground features a slide, swings, and climbing structures, all partially shaded by trees.
  • 10-Hole Mini Golf Course: This concrete course was a major hit with our kids. The hotel provides golf balls alongside putters in three different lengths.
  • Large Trampoline: Positioned in the lawn area, this provided plenty of energy-burning fun for our youngest child.
  • Clay Tennis Courts: The property features a well-maintained, fenced outdoor tennis court that is free for guest use.
  • Outdoor Seating: Throughout the gardens, there are ample shaded and sunny spots designed for families to gather and relax.
Indoor Activities & Kids’ Facilities

Valbella Resort also stands out with its variety of family-friendly indoor activities.

  • The LEGO KidsInn (Supervised Childcare): The highlight of our indoor experience was the KidsInn, a childcare facility created in collaboration with the LEGO Group. Supervised by a friendly, professional staff, it offers building stations that our 8-year-old son loved. Beyond LEGO bricks, the space includes a play kitchen, indoor climbing structures, and arts and crafts areas.
  • LEGO Room & Evening Cinema: In addition to the supervised KidsInn, there is a second, unsupervised LEGO room open for family building. Our kids spent hours building and racing cars down the custom LEGO track. It became a daily ritual for our family to build together and leave our creations on the display shelves. In the back of this room, a small cinema screen plays children’s movies (in German) every evening.
  • Pool & Foosball: Located next to the LEGO room, this casual hangout space features a full-sized pool table and a foosball table, making it ideal for older kids and teens.
  • Indoor Swimming Pool: Located across from the kids’ club inside the main building (Tgiasa Principala), the indoor pool area is bright and modern, featuring large windows that look out onto the garden. It features a large family swimming pool, a dedicated baby pool with a small slide and water fountain, and a warm bubble jacuzzi. Showers, changing rooms, and complimentary towels are provided on-site.
  • Fitness Gym: A fully equipped fitness center overlooks the indoor pool area.
Wellness Tor da Lenn (Adult-Only Spa)

For parents looking for some quiet time, the Wellness Tor da Lenn is an adult-only spa tower. The spa offers a wide selection of professional treatments, including facials, body scrubs, and massages. My husband booked the Combi Massage, which was excellent and delivered by highly trained staff. The facility also includes:

  •  A classic Finnish sauna and bio sauna
  •  A steam room
  •  An indoor plunge pool
  •  Quiet relaxation areas with mountain views

Note: This facility is strictly textile-free (no swimsuits allowed in the saunas), with changing rooms located at the entrance. Because it is arranged over five floors, stairs are required to access the different areas.

Family Suites & Accommodations

The resort consists of three separate residential buildings (Tgiasa Principala, Tgiasa Fastatsch, and Tgiasa da Lenn). The layout can be slightly confusing to navigate at first due to the multiple buildings and separate elevator towers, but the reception staff is great at walking you through the map. Our rooms were recently updated, modern, and beautifully designed for families. We were lucky to get an upgrade to a suite in the Tgiasa Principala building, featuring a separate bedroom for the kids, large comfortable beds, and multiple closets for storage. Our room also had a balcony overlooking the garden and alpine views, which we really enjoyed.

Thoughtful Family Touches:

  • Kids’ Welcome Amenities: The rooms include child-friendly details like LEGO keychains and coloring books.
  • Baby Gear on Demand: The hotel provides an array of helpful gear, including baby cots, bed safety rails, and step stools.
  • Included Mini Bar: In addition to the in-room coffee and tea stations, there is a shared mini bar located in the hallway with complimentary non-alcoholic drinks restocked daily.
  • Sweet Departure: Upon checking out, the reception team gifted our children chocolate bars for the ride home.
Dining Experiences & Half-Board Review

We booked our stay using a Summer Special package, which included half-board (daily breakfast and dinner). During our stay, Restaurant Capricorn was our primary dining venue. It is  family-friendly, providing plastic tableware, coloring mats, and high chairs.

  • Breakfast Buffet: The morning spread features local Swiss cheeses, salami, fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals, pastries, and a great variety of fresh breads. Guests can also order hot dishes directly from an à la carte menu, including omelets, bacon, crepes, pancakes, and French toast.
  • Lunch: Lunch is available both indoors and on the sunny outdoor patio overlooking the playground. The adult portions—especially the club sandwich—are generous and delicious, and there is a kids’ menu.
  • Dinner: Dinner is a breeze because the children have access to a kids’ buffet stocked with reliable favorites like pasta, burgers, chicken nuggets, and fresh fruits and vegetables. We were impressed with the four-course menu for adults, which offered 2–3 choices per course. Substitutions can easily be made using the à la carte menu, and the hotel features an extensive wine cellar.
Things to Do in Lenzerheide

The Arosa Lenzerheide region is an exceptional destination for an outdoor family holiday in Switzerland. Because we booked the hotel’s summer package, local cable cars and chairlifts were included in our stay. The hotel staff was incredibly helpful with local recommendations. The valley offers a wide variety of family-friendly activities, including:

  • Interactive themed hiking trails for children
  • The longest marble run (Murmelibahn) in Switzerland
  • The Pradaschier alpine coaster (the longest toboggan run in Switzerland)
  • Themed adventure playgrounds
  • Water sports and swimming at the nearby Heidsee lake
Arrival & Logistics

The resort is located just a short drive (two hours or less) from Zurich and Lucerne, making it an easy option for a weekend trip or a longer holiday.

  • Parking: The hotel features a paid underground parking garage on-site.
  • EV Charging: For electric vehicles, there are several charging stations in the garage that can be easily activated using your standard hotel room keycard.
Final Thoughts: Is Valbella Resort Worth It?

While the Valbella Resort is certainly a splurge, the high quality of the dining, the spacious family suites, and the sheer volume of included amenities (especially the LEGO rooms and indoor pool) make it well worth the cost. It provides a genuinely relaxing, well-managed environment for a luxury family vacation in Switzerland. For more family friendly Swiss Guides, check out our blog.
