Disneyland Paris Character Breakfast Guide: Plaza Gardens vs. The Regal View

One of my absolute favorite Disney traditions is booking a character breakfast. Growing up, our family loved character dining at Walt Disney World because it offered a relaxed way to meet our favorite characters without waiting in long park queues, and today, I carry on that exact tradition with my own kids. If you are planning your morning meals, this Disneyland Paris Character Breakfast Guide covers everything you need to know. During our recent family trips, we booked character breakfasts at both Plaza Gardens Restaurant (2024) and the newly opened The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge (2026). Character dining at Disneyland Paris is definitely a splurge, but for our family, the stress-free interactions, autographs, photos, and time saved make the experience well worth it.

Disneyland Paris Character Dining: Essential Tips & Booking Rules
  • Unannounced Character Lineups: The exact visiting characters are not announced in advance, but you can generally expect 4 to 6 characters per meal.
  • On-Site Disney Hotel Booking Window: Guests staying at official Disneyland Paris Disney Hotels can book character dining up to 12 months in advance through the Disneyland Paris app.
  • Off-Site Guest Booking Window: If you are staying off-property, standard table reservations open 2 months in advance, but character breakfast slots often open only 3 days in advance.
  • Why We Choose Breakfast Over Lunch or Dinner: Breakfast is the most budget-friendly character dining option at Disneyland Paris. It also features straightforward, kid-friendly staples like pancakes and Mickey waffles, eliminating menu stress with picky eaters. You can easily view the full menus on the app or website beforehand to see which meal works best for your family.
  • When to Book During Your Trip: If your trip is two or more days, we recommend booking your character breakfast on your first park day. After an exhausting day of walking and rides, it can be tough to wake kids up early the next morning for an 8:00 AM breakfast.

Seating Times & Extra Magic Time:

    • First Seating (approx. 8:15 AM – 8:30 AM): Reserved exclusively for Disney Hotel guests utilizing Extra Magic Time.
    • Second Seating (approx. 9:45 AM): Available to all guests, including off-property visitors.
Plaza Gardens Restaurant (Disneyland Park)

Located at the end of Main Street, U.S.A., Plaza Gardens Restaurant offers a classic buffet-style setting for meeting traditional Disney characters.

  • Atmosphere & Photo Perks: Because we stayed on-site, we booked the early 8:15 AM seating. Walking down Main Street before regular park opening allowed us to snap photos in front of a practically empty castle. Check-in was smooth, with only a short wait before being seated.
  • The Food: An all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet featuring hot items, pastries, fresh fruit, and must-have Mickey waffles.
  • Characters We Met: Our visit featured a fun, nostalgic lineup: Tigger, Eeyore, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, Pinocchio, and Geppetto. The kids collected autographs, hugged every character, and enjoyed unhurried interactions right at our table.
  • Current Refurbishment Status: The Victorian pavilion interior was showing its age during our visit. The restaurant closed in 2026 for a full refurbishment and is scheduled to reopen in 2027.
The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge (Disney Adventure World)

Located in the Adventure Way area overlooking Adventure Bay, The Regal View is a modern, table-service character dining experience featuring Disney Princesses.

  • Theme & Atmosphere: The storyline portrays a lakeside summer retreat where Disney Princesses unwind in elegant, casual daywear rather than formal ballgowns. The dining room feels bright, airy, and spacious, decorated with hand-painted murals and floor-to-ceiling panoramic views over the lake toward World of Frozen.
  • The Menu (Table Service): Unlike the buffet at Plaza Gardens, Regal View serves a plated breakfast:
  • Pastry Service: Every guest receives a signature rainbow croissant (our table gave it mixed reviews on flavor, but full marks for presentation).
  • Entrée Choices: Guests choose between a sweet main (fluffy pancakes drizzled with chocolate that my kids devoured) and a savory main (such as poached eggs with smoked salmon).
  • Beverages: Juices, coffee, and kid-approved hot chocolate served in fairytale teacups.
  • Princesses We Met: During our meal, Aurora, Belle, Merida, and Ariel visited our table. They took plenty of time to chat, sign autograph books, and pose for photos.
Final Thoughts on Disneyland Paris Character Breakfast Guide

If your priority is meeting Disney characters without standing in 60- to 90-minute queue lines, a character breakfast is 100% worth the cost. Breakfast offers the best price-to-value ratio for character dining, satisfies picky eaters with familiar comfort food, and lets your family recharge before tackling the attractions.
