Melchsee-Frutt is a charming mountain village just 30 minutes south of Lucerne, Switzerland. Accessible in winter via cable car from Stöckalp (don’t forget your half-fare and junior card for discounted tickets), this snow-covered paradise offers a variety of activities for all ages.

Things to Do in Winter
Melchsee-Frutt has many winter activities including skiing, sledding, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, or snowshoeing. Or, if relaxation is more your style, the Frutt Family Lodge boasts a fantastic family spa.

We spent a delightful day at Fruttli-Land, a free beginner skiing area with gentle slopes perfect for little ones, and entrance is free. You can rent skis at the top cable car station, making it super convenient. We also scheduled private ski lessons through the Ski School Melchsee Frutt for our son. Sledding is another popular activity, and you can bring your own sled or borrow one for free in the area.

After a day of snowy adventures, treat yourselves to some pampering at the Frutt Family Lodge spa. The views of the mountains and lake are simply breathtaking. With large pools, saunas, a steam room, a baby pool, and a relaxation room, there’s something for every member of the family. Be sure to book in advance if you are not staying at the resort.

Where to Eat
When it comes to dining, our family’s top pick is the Frutt Lago Restaurant, conveniently located near Fruttli-Land. They offer a fantastic children’s buffet with all the favorites: pizza, pasta, chicken nuggets, fries, and a colorful selection of fruits and veggies. My son and daughter couldn’t get enough.

Where to Stay
The Frutt Mountain Resort offers a memorable family vacation that combines wellness and outdoor activities, ensuring there’s something for everyone. The resort consists of two interconnected lodges, with the Lago Lodge specifically designed with families in mind. Spacious, family-friendly rooms are available, such as the family junior suite, which includes a pull-out sofa for the kids and a king bed in the loft. Many rooms offer stunning views of the mountains and ski area. The resort features three restaurants, with the Frutt Lago Restaurant being a family favorite.

The resort has a kids club with childcare, allowing parents to enjoy some alone time. Movie nights at the resort cinema are a highlight for children. A game room offers bowling, video games, darts, and foosball. Make sure to make reservations for the game room prior to arrival. There are two spas: one for adults only and one for families. The family spa features pools with mountain and lake views. Spa treatments can be booked for adults while the kids can enjoy the kids club. Each room gets a locker in the ski room to store your gear which is very convenient. Luggage can be dropped off at the cable car and will be delivered to your room.
