One of our favorite lakeside restaurants in Zug is the charming Hafenrestaurant, perfectly situated right on Lake Zug with an outdoor patio that offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. On warm days, the restaurant’s misters keep the patio cool and comfortable, making it an ideal spot for the whole family to relax. The kids are always delighted to spot fish swimming in the crystal-clear water and watch ducks dive for their lunch. Located next to the marina, you can enjoy watching boats glide across the lake. While Hafenrestaurant offers a full menu, we usually visit for their delicious desserts—our kids’ favorites are the whimsical Cookie Monster and bunny ice cream treats topped with Smarties. Parking is available right outside, though it can get busy on weekends, with additional paid options nearby. Just a short 5- to 10-minute walk away is Strandbad Zug, a sandy beach with a splash pool and another great restaurant, all with free entrance, making this area our go-to spot for family fun by the lake.
