Nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps, Madrisa is a magical winter destination designed with families in mind. Known as the “Family Mountain” of Davos Klosters, it offers a wide variety of activities that cater to kids and adults alike, ensuring a day full of fun, adventure, and stunning alpine views.
Getting There
Madrisa is located at an altitude of approximately 1,800 meters and is easily accessible via a 12-minute gondola ride from Klosters Dorf Station. Tickets can be purchased at the station (note: half-fare and Junior cards are not valid for discounts). If you’re driving, arrive early as the parking lot fills up quickly on weekends. Alternatively, buses drop you off right at the cable car entrance.
Sledding Fun
One of the highlights for our kids was the short, family-friendly sledding run near the mountain station. Sleds are available for free, though we also brought our own. Even on a busy weekend, we didn’t have to wait long for a sled. The magic carpet made it easy to ascend back to the top for another thrilling ride.
Beginner Skiing
While we didn’t ski this time, Madrisa’s beginner slopes with magic carpets looked ideal for young learners. The area is well-equipped with practice lifts and gentle runs, making it perfect for first-timers.
Bouncy Castle Bliss
The bouncy castle at the base of the sledding run was an instant hit with our kids! They happily bounced away while we relaxed on nearby benches, soaking in panoramic mountain views.
Dining with a View
The self-service Madrisa-Alp restaurant was a convenient spot for lunch. Its outdoor patio overlooks all the action—sledding, skiing, and the bouncy castle—so you can keep an eye on your kids while enjoying your meal. The children’s menu offered reasonably priced options like chicken nuggets and pasta.
Madrisa exceeded our expectations as a family-friendly winter destination. From its safe and well-organized activities to its breathtaking alpine setting, it’s a place where kids can play freely while parents relax. Next time, we plan to try skiing and maybe a winter hike. Whether you’re looking for an action-packed day or a relaxing family outing in the snow, Madrisa has something for everyone!
