La Maison du Gruyère combines cheese-making traditions with delicious local cuisine. Located near the stunning Gruyères Castle, this cheese factory lets visitors watch live cheesemaking and learn about the famous Gruyère AOP. Unfortunately, we did not have time to tour the factory as we were only stopping for lunch on our drive toward France. At the on-site restaurant, families can indulge in authentic Swiss dishes like fondue, raclette, and other cheese-based specialties, all made with fresh Gruyère. We enjoyed the fondue and schnitzel. My son really enjoyed dipping the bread in the fondue. Even though we could not tour the cheese factory, guests can still view the cellar which is filled with wheels of delicious Gruyère. Our kids were able to burn off some energy at the outdoor playground before we continued with our trip. La Maison du Gruyère was a pleasant stop on our road trip, and I hope we have a chance to return to tour the factory.
