Our family enjoyed a lovely lunch at the iconic Trattoria Mario in Florence, a cozy and historic restaurant opened in 1953 that exudes a warm family vibe. We were lucky to dine in their inviting underground wine cellar. Known for its frequently changing menu and especially for the famous Florentine steak, we ordered the steak for three people. The fun and interactive touch of having the steak brought to our table prior to cooking for approval made the experience even more special. The steak was cooked medium-rare, leaning slightly toward rare, and it was absolutely delicious, complemented perfectly by a side of crispy fries. For the kids, we were delighted to find that small pasta portions were available, making the meal family-friendly. The walls decorated with a lovely family picture timeline and the rich history of the restaurant told through photos deepened our connection to this beloved Florentine spot. We strongly recommend making reservations in advance as the restaurant is extremely popular—it was bustling with a line out the door by the time we left. Trattoria Mario is truly a must-visit for an authentic Tuscan dining experience steeped in tradition and family warmth.
