Family Guide to Ägeribad Swimming Pool (Zug, Switzerland)

If you are looking for a family-friendly swimming pool in Switzerland, Ägeribad in Canton Zug needs to be on your radar. Located just a 15-minute drive from the city of Zug, this modern indoor-outdoor facility offers a variety of heated pools perfect for a full- or half-day family adventure. When we visited, the first thing that caught our eye was the architecture. Massive floor-to-ceiling glass windows keep the modern space incredibly bright and offer lovely views down to Lake Ägeri (Ägerisee). While there are plenty of spaces to keep the kids occupied, adults will love the separate wellness center complete with saunas and steam rooms.

The Indoor Swimming Areas
  • Children’s Splash Pool: This was easily one of our kids’ favorite spaces. The shallow toddler pool is equipped with a small slide, water fountains, and interactive channels where little ones can float toy boats down a winding course.
  • Learning & Adventure Pool: The learning pool is a larger, deeper pool with a great party trick—an adjustable floor that changes the depth between 40 cm and 180 cm. It is often used for local swim classes, so a section might be roped off, but our kids spent hours here swimming around and diving for pool toys.
  • 25-Meter Lap Pool: If you want to get some proper fitness yards in, there is a quieter, dedicated 8-lane lap pool. You can even reserve lanes in advance if you want to guarantee a spot.
  • 65-Meter Indoor Water Slide: The 65-meter-long indoor water slide was a massive hit with my 8-year-old son! Just a quick heads-up for parents: children must be at least 8 years old to ride this slide.
The Outdoor Areas
  • Outdoor Heated Pool: The outdoor pool treats you to a lovely view of the surrounding lake and mountains. It features a variety of bubble jets, massage fountains, and lounge-style bubble benches. There is also a great sun deck with chairs and umbrellas where we loved relaxing and taking in the Swiss scenery.
  • Lakeside Beach Area (Strandbad): During the warmer months, you can access the free lakeside beach area directly from the indoor facility. It features a natural lake beach, outdoor water slides, and a diving platform.
  • Family Tip: Remember to take your entrance key card with you down to the lake! You will need it to scan back into the main building.
Adult Wellness & Spa Area

If you are visiting without toddlers—or can trade off parenting duties—there is a premium wellness area located on the upper floor. It features three relaxation rooms, multiple saunas, a steam room, a cold plunge pool, and bookable spa treatments like massages. There is also a beautiful outdoor terrace looking out over the water.

Note: You must be at least 16 years old to enter. Since we were on full-time kid duty, we didn’t get to try it ourselves this time, but it looks incredibly relaxing!

Dining at Restaurant Lago

When the kids get hungry, you can head over to the self-service Restaurant Lago. They serve family favorites like burgers, Flammkuchen, and Schnitzel, alongside a dedicated kids’ menu featuring hot dogs and chicken nuggets. Baby high chairs are also available.

The indoor dining area directly overlooks the indoor swimming facility, making it easy to keep an eye on the pools. If the weather is nice, the family can have a picnic down by the lakeside beach area.

Helpful Tips for Your Visit
  •  How to Get There: If you are driving, there is a small paid parking lot named “Parkplatz Ägeribad” right next to the entrance. However, it fills up very quickly on weekends! We recommend taking public transit instead—the “Oberägeri, Station” bus stop drops you off directly outside the front doors.
  •  Admission & Tickets: Tickets can be bought at the main entrance counter, and kids under 6 years old swim for free. If you plan to visit often, you can buy a 10-entry card or an annual pass for a discount.
  •  Important Check: Always check the official Ägeribad website before you go, as the facility closes down for a couple of weeks every summer for annual maintenance.
  •  Locker System: When you pay admission, you receive a smart card. You insert this card into any empty locker to lock it, which releases a convenient wristband with a physical key. It makes keeping your valuables dry and safe super easy. The changing areas are clean and include family changing rooms, showers, and a baby changing station.
  •  Forgot Your Gear? There is a small gift shop at the entrance counter that sells pool toys, beach gear, and extra swim supplies if you forget anything.
Final Thoughts

Overall, we absolutely love the modern, bright atmosphere at Ägeribad. Having so many different indoor and outdoor pool options means the whole family stays entertained regardless of the weather outside. The kids couldn’t get enough of the slides and the outdoor bubble jets!
