The Bachmann family opened their first shop in 1897, and today there are more than 20 bakery locations across Switzerland, many conveniently found at train stations. Along with freshly baked bread and delicious pastries, Bachmann produces around 85 tons of chocolate and 94 tons of homemade ice cream each year. The Schwanenplatz branch is best known for its Flowing Chocolate Wall, where more than 750 kg (1,650 lbs) of chocolate cascades continuously.
Inside, families will find a wide selection of handcrafted chocolates, many featuring Lucerne’s iconic landmarks—perfect as souvenirs or gifts. The shop also offers a Lindt chocolate section, plenty of pastries and ice cream for warm days, and a cozy café area serving sandwiches and drinks. If you make a purchase, you can ask for a coin to use the restrooms for free.
