Barolo with Kids: A Family Getaway to Casa Schiavenza Perno Vacation Rental

Nestled atop a scenic hill in Barolo, Casa Schiavenza Perno is a charming 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom rental home that offers families an idyllic escape with easy access to the region’s many attractions. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the panoramic views stretching over endless vineyards and picturesque towns scattered across the valleys below.

A Splash of Joy: The Irresistible Saltwater Infinity Pool

What truly drew us to Casa Schiavenza Perno was the irresistible saltwater infinity pool. Our kids couldn’t get enough of it. The pool is mostly deep, but features a shallower area by the stairs that’s suitable for younger children. Plush bean bags and several shaded seating spots line the pool, making it a relaxing space for the entire family. The thoughtful hosts provided not only pool floats and inner tubes but also fun yard games, including bags and badminton. An outdoor shower was convenient for rinsing off, and we made good use of the spacious garage below for storage, pool supplies, laundry, and even an extra bathroom.

Comfort and Charm: Inside Our Cozy Apartment

Inside, the apartment is located on the second floor, overlooking both the pool and rolling hills—a view made even more magical at sunset. The compact living, dining, and kitchen area was more than enough for our needs, since we spent most of our days outdoors. The apartment has been recently renovated with two comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms, so everyone had their own space. The owners thoughtfully supplied an extra twin bed, and the sofa transformed into a sleeper, easily accommodating our family. Our kids were thrilled to find sticker books and board games waiting for them—another detail that made us feel immediately welcome.

Easy and Secure Parking with Scenic Views

Parking at Casa Schiavenza Perno was incredibly convenient and secure. The gated property comes with an automatic gate opener. We appreciated the shaded parking—especially during the warm afternoons—and the electric vehicle charger was an unexpected bonus that made charging our hybrid easy. Navigating the winding road up the hill added a little adventure to each outing, but the breathtaking views made every drive more than worthwhile. Plus, all of the region’s major activities were just a short 10–15-minute drive from our door.

Explore the Best of Barolo: Wineries, Truffle Hunting & More

There is no shortage of things to do nearby. The Barolo region is world-renowned for its exquisite wines, and our visit to Azienda Agricola Burzi Alberto winery was a standout highlight. For a more hands-on family experience, consider booking a truffle hunting adventure with dogs. Dining in the area is also a treat—local restaurants serve delicious meals, often accompanied by fantastic local wines. We enjoyed exploring the charming towns of Barolo, Alba, and La Morra, each offering its own unique character and attractions.
