We recently spent three incredible nights at Familiamus Familiehotel in the heart of the Dolomites, and it quickly became our favorite family hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the whimsical theme and décor that made every corner feel like a storybook adventure. The friendly staff, delicious food, and endless opportunities for family fun created memories we’ll cherish forever. Every inch of the hotel is thoughtfully designed for families, making it a true paradise for both kids and parents.

Outdoor Playground Wonderland
The outdoor playground at Familiamus is a dream come true for children of all ages. From each play area, amazing views of the countryside and mountains can be enjoyed.
- Slides, Trampolines, and Swings: There is a large whimsical playground outside the lobby featuring a big slide, climbing structures, swings, and trampolines. Our daughter loved bouncing on the trampoline.
- Marble Run/Water Table: Kids can pump water through channels that can be blocked or opened, allowing water to flow and marbles to roll. This was my son’s favorite.
- Panning for Gold Water Table: A unique, interactive experience where children play with water and rocks searching for hidden treasures.

Indoor Playgrounds: Rain or Shine Fun
If the weather turns or you need a break from the sun, the indoor play areas are just as impressive.
- Sand Pit: There’s an indoor sandpit complete with climbing structures and puzzles. It’s located right by the reception desk, so kids can play while parents ask questions.
- Climbing Play Area: Outside the kids’ club, a parkour-style play area features padded climbing structures that allow kids to expend energy.
- Bobby Cars: One of the most fun aspects is the Bobby cars, which children can ride between floors, adding an exciting twist to indoor playtime.
- Sliding Fun: Additionally, slides connecting different floors provide a unique and thrilling way for kids to move around the hotel. This was a major family highlight of our stay.

Kids Clubs: Activities for Every Age
Familiamus offers separate kids clubs tailored to different age groups: babies, minis, kids, and teens. Each club runs daily activities, so there’s always something exciting happening. Our children loved the glow-in-the-dark painting sessions, disco parties with Magolix—the hotel’s magician mascot—animal feedings involving guinea pigs and rabbits, slide derbies, and outdoor adventure hikes. The staff were incredibly welcoming, helping our kids feel comfortable and have a blast from day one.

Family Activities: Making Memories Together
The hotel offers a variety of family activities you can register for, including archery, painting, wood workshops, and rock wall climbing. A particularly memorable experience was when my son and husband built a birdhouse together in the wood workshop and then painted it during the painting class. After participating in these activities, kids earn tokens that can be used to ride special motorized themed animals in the lobby, adding an extra layer of fun and reward.

Pony Rides: A Magical Highlight
The pony rides were the absolute highlight of our trip and come highly recommended. This special activity requires advance booking. First, the children help prepare the pony by brushing him. Each child then chooses between a lesson in the ring or an easy ride. Our kids loved the lessons where the pony walked over poles, and they learned to balance on the horse, ride backwards, and even trot. This experience was simply magical and created lasting memories for our family.

Family Pool and Spa: Relaxation and Adventure
The pool and spa area caters wonderfully to families. Family pool robes, slippers, and towels are provided, and the outdoor pools offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains. There are water slides designed for different ages—my son and husband enjoyed racing down the large slide, while my daughter preferred the gentler snake slide. My personal favorite was the rooftop jacuzzi with bubble jets and breathtaking views. The family sauna even features pirate-themed infusion parties, adding a playful touch to relaxation.

For adults, the hotel offers a separate spa and gym area that is swimsuit-free, featuring bio and Finnish saunas, steam rooms, a natural pool, and a covered pool lounging area. Several sauna infusions are scheduled throughout the day. Although the no-swimsuit policy made me a bit uncomfortable, I still enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views of the countryside and mountains. The gym offers various fitness classes, and I particularly enjoyed a Pilates session. For an additional cost, spa treatments such as massages are available, and my husband and I indulged in relaxing massages that were a perfect way to unwind.

Dining: All-Inclusive Delights
Dining at Familiamus is a true delight with an all-inclusive package covering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks, including soft drinks, water, and select beers and wines. There is even a selection of kid-friendly cocktails; our son loved the blue shark drink complete with a gummy shark. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style, while dinner offers a combination of buffet and menu ordering. One night, we experienced a special 7-course tasting dinner that was a real treat. The included wine selection offered a variety of tasty options. Everything was delicious, and our children’s favorite was the gelato cart. Kids also have the option to dine with the kids club for lunch and dinner.

Hotel Experience: Comfort, Convenience, and Eco-Friendly Touches
The hotel makes every step of your stay easy and magical. Check-in and checkout are incredibly smooth, with staff unloading your car, delivering your bags to your room, and parking your car for you. The same service is provided at checkout, making it the easiest arrival and departure experience we’ve ever had. Note that electric car charging stations are available.

Our room was spacious with a large balcony offering stunning views, and the kids had their own separate room. When we found the beds too firm, a quick WhatsApp message to the hotel brought soft mattress toppers to our room, which made all the difference.

Familiamus is environmentally conscious, encouraging kids to earn “bee tokens” by reusing towels and sheets. At checkout, children write their names and the number of bees earned on a sheet that contributes to building a new bee house on the property. Kids also get to choose a magical gift to take home; ours picked gemstones they proudly shared with their school friends. The hotel also offers a selection of strollers for guest use, so you don’t have to bring one. These thoughtful, magical touches made our stay feel truly special.

Day Trip: Sonnenpark Gitschberg Adventure
Thanks to the Südtirol Guest Pass provided by Familiamus Familiehotel, we visited Sonnenpark Gitschberg, an alpine playground nestled at 2,100 meters in the Dolomites. The cable car ride to the park, just under five minutes from the hotel, is included with the pass. Sonnenpark is packed with sun-themed attractions such as multiple long slides, climbing structures, a climbing igloo, and a swinging bridge. Our children were especially thrilled by the dueling giant slides, which were a perfect way to burn off energy and enjoy the stunning alpine scenery.
