Family Day at Fortyseven Baden: Enjoy Ancient Thermal Springs and Modern Spa Relaxation

Fortyseven Baden is a thermal spa with a history stretching back over 2,000 years. Even in Roman times, these mineral-rich springs-then called Aquae Helveticae-were famous for their healing powers, drawing legionaries and travelers to their soothing waters. Today, the tradition continues, blending ancient wellness with modern comfort.

Family-Friendly Policies

Children aged 3 and up are welcome at Fortyseven, though some areas have age restrictions. Guests up to 15 must be accompanied by an adult. The textile sauna is open to children from age 12 (with an adult), while the textile-free sauna is strictly for adults 18 and over. More information is available on their website.

Pools for Every Mood

The spa features a variety of pools, both indoors and outdoors, each with different temperatures and special features. The outdoor thermal pool is the largest and offers pleasant views of the River Limmat-perfect for relaxing while the kids enjoy the bubble jets, foot massagers, and gentle fountains. There’s also a flow pool with a lazy river and massage stations, as well as a natural swimming pool for a refreshing dip. Comfortable lounge chairs are available both inside and out.

The Cosmos Area: Unique Wellness Experiences

One of our favorite spots is the Cosmos area. I love the heated table-an oasis of warmth and relaxation-while my husband can’t get enough of the brine float pool, which lets you experience weightlessness in mineral-rich water. Both are perfect for deep relaxation and are accessible to families when accompanied by an adult.

Saunas, Steam, and More

For those seeking more, there are several saunas (both textile and textile-free), a steam room, and even a cold room. Complimentary tea and water are available throughout the wellness areas, making it easy to stay hydrated and comfortable. You can book additional treatments like massages and facials, but these are popular-reserve ahead to avoid disappointment. The on-site restaurant serves light meals, drinks, snacks, and desserts, with a cozy indoor seating area for a relaxing break.

Practical Tips: Tickets, Facilities, and Parking

We usually opt for a 3-hour entrance ticket, which includes access to all pools, saunas, and the Cosmos area. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a wristband that acts as your locker key and lets you charge any extras (like food or spa treatments) to your account, which you settle when you leave. Changing rooms, showers, and hair dryers are provided; towels can be rented for a fee, but we prefer to bring our own. There’s a large underground parking lot directly beneath the spa, making arrival stress-free, even with kids in tow.

Fortyseven Baden is a perfect blend of history, wellness, and family fun-an unforgettable experience for all ages.
