Discovering Alsace: Family Wine Tasting and Exploring Kaysersberg

Our recent trip to the Alsace region of France was filled with charming villages, stunning vineyards, and memorable family moments. One of the highlights was visiting Domaine Paul Blanck, a family-run winery nestled in the picturesque town of Kaysersberg Vignoble. From tasting exquisite wines to wandering historic streets and scenic paths, our visit was a delightful blend of culture, nature, and family fun.

At Domaine Paul Blanck, we enjoyed one of the best wine tastings of our entire Alsace journey. The tasting room featured a large communal table where we set up coloring activities for the kids and played an audiobook to keep them happily entertained. Meanwhile, we savored a remarkable selection of wines, including Rieslings, Sylvaner, “F” Pinot Noir, and late-harvest Gewurztraminer. What made the experience truly special was the opportunity to taste the same grape grown in different soils, highlighting how terroir shapes the flavor and character of each wine. The passion of the Blanck family and the relaxed, family-friendly setting made this tasting memorable

After the tasting, we explored the enchanting town of Kaysersberg, which felt like stepping into a fairy tale. The town’s colorful half-timbered houses and flower-adorned balconies created a warm and inviting atmosphere. We took a scenic walk along a path just outside the old city walls, which offered beautiful views over the vineyards. For the kids, there was a lovely playground nearby where they could burn off some energy. The playground is close to the Fontaine du Schneckentalweg.

Parking is limited in the small town, but there is a parking area just outside the city walls. Be sure to contact the winery to make a reservation in advance. Kaysersberg’s blend of history, natural beauty, and welcoming charm made it a perfect complement to our wine tasting experience and a highlight of our Alsace adventure.
