Discovering Felsenegg: A Family Adventure Near Zuirch

Located just outside Zurich, Felsenegg is an ideal family destination offering breathtaking views, exciting hiking trails, and a delightful dining experience.

The Felsenegg Cable Car

Our adventure begins with a scenic ride on the Felsenegg cable car, the only public cable car in the canton of Zurich. This five-minute journey takes you up to approximately 800 meters (~2,600 ft), providing stunning views of Zurich and Lake Zurich. The cable car is part of the Zurich transport network, and holders of half-fare, junior cards, and Swiss Travel Pass cards can enjoy discounts. While there is a small parking lot at the Adliswil cable car station, it fills quickly on weekends, so public transit is a convenient alternative.

Felsenegg Restaurant

At the top, you’ll find the charming Gasthaus Felsenegg inn, offering panoramic views from the restaurant’s patio. We enjoyed a simple lunch on the patio, basking in the sunshine. There is a kids menu with chicken nuggets. A nearby playground makes it an ideal spot for families.

Hiking Trails

Felsenegg is surrounded by several hiking trails suitable for all ages. Instead of embarking on a long hike, we opted for a leisurely walk along one of the trails for about an hour. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the playground and were starting to get tired. We look forward to exploring the Planetenweg Trail in the future. Felsenegg is perfect for families seeking a mix of adventure, nature, and relaxation close to Zurich.
