For a truly unique experience, try enjoying fondue in an igloo at 2,570 meters in Davos Klosters, Switzerland. To reach the restaurant, enter the igloo and descend the stairs to the snow bar and restaurant, which features stunning Rio-inspired ice carvings. The ice and snow carvings are breathtaking, so be sure to explore the entire space.

We shared a delicious fondue with another family, and they also offer pasta for kids. It’s highly recommended to make a reservation in advance. Remember to dress warmly, as it can be quite chilly inside the igloo.

The igloo also serves as a hotel. Although we didn’t stay overnight (it was too cold), you can tour the rooms, each uniquely decorated with different ice and snow carvings. My kids thought it was incredibly cool.

Our family and another family signed up for a taster course to learn about igloo construction. It was a unique experience with breathtaking views in the mountains. We enjoyed the hands-on learning process and the opportunity to build something together as a family. For more information click here.

To get to the igloo village, take two funiculars from Davos Dorf to the Mittelstation, then continue up to Weissfluhjoch. From there, follow the signs for a 15-20 minute walk to Iglu-Dorf. Note that sleds are not allowed, so we couldn’t pull our three-year-old to the site. The return journey involves a steep climb back to the funicular, so plan your time carefully to catch the last train.
