Zugerberg is a local mountain accessible via the Zugerberg Bahn funicular. A trip up to Zugerberg offers beautiful views of Lake Zug with access to hiking trails, playgrounds, and BBQ sites.
The Zugerberg Bahn funicular departs from Schönegg and takes you to the top Zugerberg Station. The journey to the top of Zugerberg takes only eight minutes on the wheelchair-accessible funicular. The funicular also easily accommodates strollers. The funicular opened in 1907 and has been recently updated.
Tickets for the funicular can be purchased on the SBB app or at the station. The time schedule can also be found on the SBB app. Half-fare and Junior cards can be used for a discount.
At the Schönegg station, there is a small pay parking lot which fills up quickly on the weekend. There is a bus stop, “Zug, Schönegg”, making it easily accessible by public transit.
