Wildnispark Zurich Langenberg

Located just outside Zurich, Langenberg Wildnis Park is a great destination for families. It is the oldest wildlife park in Switzerland, founded in 1869, and offers a unique opportunity to observe native and formerly native animals in a natural environment. Entrance to the park is free, so we love to visit often.

The park is home to around 20 species, including brown bears, wolves, elk, wild boar, and Przewalski’s horses. The animals roam freely in large enclosures, so on some visits, we do not see every animal. My kids like the mouse/rat exhibit, which is made to look like a real barn and farmhouse. They enjoy watching the mice scurry around a kitchen or hiding in boots.

Situated next to the bear enclosure, Restaurant Langenberg offers a variety of Swiss dishes. The self-service restaurant features a playground and a terrace with a view of the bears. There are baby chairs and a baby changing station.

There is a parking lot below the entrance, which costs 10 CHF per day. Considering that entrance is free, this is not too bad, and annual parking passes may be purchased. Before the restaurant, there is a second, larger playground with equipment for older kids to play. This play space includes large climbing structures and a zip line. Wildnispark Zürich is a great destination for families seeking a mix of nature, adventure, and education.
