If you’re looking for a fun indoor activity for kids in Central Switzerland, Spinnerei Ibach in the Canton of Schwyz is a great choice. This indoor playground and bouldering facility is less than an hour’s drive from both Lucerne and Zurich, making it an easy day trip for families. It’s the perfect spot on rainy or cold days when outdoor play isn’t an option. Plan to spend about three hours here—enough time for the kids to play, climb, and explore before heading home happily exhausted.
Indoor Playground
The 320 m² indoor playground (Spielplatz) is designed for children ages 3–9 and packed with fun climbing structures, rope bridges, slides, and ball pits. The highlight is a large orange-and-white tent structure that combines climbing and sliding in one feature—my four-year-old’s favorite part! For toddlers, there’s a smaller play area tucked away at the back for ages 1–2, with a mini climbing structure and blocks.
Bouldering
The bouldering area at Spinnerei is great for active families and climbers of all levels. Routes are clearly marked by difficulty, and bouldering shoes can be rented on-site. Beginners can also join classes to learn proper technique. While we didn’t try this section during our visit, it looked well-maintained, exciting, and perfect for families who enjoy climbing.
