Visiting the Schlangen (Snake) Zoo in Eschlikon, Switzerland, was a family adventure that perfectly catered to our son’s fascination with reptiles. Located just a 40-minute drive east of Zurich, this small yet captivating zoo features over 150 snakes and a chameleon, making it a perfect place for any reptile enthusiast.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a variety of snakes from around the world, including both venomous and non-venomous species. The zoo allows guests to hold snakes, which my son found thrilling. The zoo keeper fed the snake a mouse which again my son thought was cool. I am not a snake enthusiast so I just sat toward the back—definitely not my cup of tea! The highlight for the kids was witnessing a chameleon in action as it caught crickets. The zoo is well-equipped with stools for smaller children, ensuring they could easily view the snakes housed in higher cages. We toured the zoo for about an hour.

If guests want to relax, there is a small café located above the zoo. It offered simple snacks like hot dogs, drinks, and chips. There are several tables available for families to relax and enjoy their food.

Parking was hassle-free with a large free parking lot adjacent to the zoo. Additionally, for those using public transport, the Eschlikon TG train station is just a six-minute walk away, making it accessible for visitors traveling from Zurich or other nearby areas. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Switzerland, this charming little zoo is worth a visit—especially if you have young reptile enthusiasts in tow!
