Savor Italian Flavors with Lake Views at Widder, Zug’s Old Town Gem

My husband and I recently enjoyed a lovely date night at Restaurant Widder in the old town of Zug, savoring modern Italian dishes like beef carpaccio, a homemade tortellini special, and smoked burrata gnocchi—all of which were delightful. The restaurant’s outdoor shaded terrace provided a charming spot on a cool evening, with beautiful views down to the lake. While there isn’t a children’s menu, it’s easy to order a child-sized portion of pasta, and the restaurant also provides baby chairs for families.

The pedestrian-only square makes the area safe for kids to roam, and just steps away, our children love visiting the free aviary at the Ornithologischer Verein der Stadt Zug, where colorful birds and stunning white owls can be seen. Nearby, two delicious ice cream shops, Dieci and Lucy Goose, offer perfect desserts by the lake. Convenient parking is available at Parkhaus Postplatz, and the old town is easily accessible by public transit, making Widder a great choice for both romantic dinners and family visits.
