Kunsthaus Zürich is Switzerland’s largest art museum, offering an impressive collection of works spanning from medieval to contemporary art, making it a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts in Zürich. My small children would have difficulty being patient and quiet in an art museum, so I visited without them. If I were to bring them in the future, I would ensure they had plenty of activities to keep them occupied.

The museum consists of two buildings: the Moser building and the Chipperfield building, connected by an underground passage. The Moser building presents artworks chronologically, while the Chipperfield building often features private collections like the Looser and Merzbacher collections. We wanted to view the works by Vincent van Gogh, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, and Pablo Picasso. It is an impressive collection to admire, located on the second floor of the new Chipperfield building. On the first floor is more modern art, and we were amazed by the installation Pixelwald Turicum. Visitors walk through this immersive light and sound installation, which I think my children would have really enjoyed. There is so much to see that it would be difficult to do in under two hours, so if you do not have time, I would prioritize the art you are interested in. The staff at the front desk were very helpful in guiding us based on our interests.

The museum does not allow backpacks or umbrellas to be carried into the exhibits. There are free lockers in the underground passage or on the ground floor of the Chipperfield building. The museum is easy to access by public transit or by parking at the nearby Promenade parking garage.

With its stunning architecture and diverse exhibitions, Kunsthaus Zürich is a perfect blend of art and culture and a wonderful place to visit for any art enthusiast.
