Freiruum Food and Sports Hall in Zug, Switzerland, is a fun indoor destination for families, featuring a spacious sports hall and a lively food market hall. The sports hall offers soft play areas, trampolines, a bouldering wall, and a multi-purpose sports court, providing great indoor activities for kids on rainy days or any time of year. With 14 different food stands in the market hall and plenty of seating, families can enjoy meals together. Our kids get super excited for visits, and we typically plan around two hours for play and dining.
Sports Hall
The Freiruum indoor play area has recently been renovated. The Spiilruum Indoor Playground caters to little ones ages 2–7, complete with colorful slides, ball pits, climbing structures, and large building blocks for creative play. Adjacent to it, the Trampoline Park lets older kids (6+) bounce freely on interconnected trampolines — perfect for high-energy fun. The new Clip ‘n Climb Boulder Area welcomes children aged 4 and up, featuring a variety of climbing challenges. A versatile sports court supports football, basketball, and other games, with added air track areas for extra fun.
Tickets and Entrance
Tickets can be purchased at the front desk for 90-minute slots, which usually tire out even the most energetic kids. Upon entry, children receive a wristband and must wear non-slip socks, provided inside the play zones. Dedicated shelves conveniently store shoes and jackets. Opt for long pants and short sleeves since active play generates plenty of heat. There are tables overlooking the sports complex for enjoying meals or drinks while supervising. Freiruum is also a popular spot for birthdays, offering dedicated party seating areas.
Food Hall
After hours of running, jumping, and climbing, kids arrive happily exhausted and ready to refuel in Freiruum’s market hall, which features around 14 diverse food stands. Options range from pizza, tacos, sushi, and chicken to Japanese, Thai, Greek, Italian, Asian fusion, and local specialties. Our family favorites include the Chicken Club’s chicken nugget kids’ meal, Woody Pizza’s spicy Diavolo, sushi, and scoops of ice cream from Les Maurice. A wide selection of drinks is available — from coffee and sodas to beer and wine. The spacious indoor dining area provides over 500 seats, high chairs, and water stations with glasses. In warmer months, outdoor terrace seating opens up, and during football season, games play on a large screen for extra entertainment.
Arrival and Tips for Visiting
Parking directly in front of Freiruum is limited, so we prefer Parkhaus An der Aa, just a quick five-minute walk away. Its central location also means a short stroll from Zug train station, ideal for those arriving by public transport. Weekends, especially rainy ones, tend to get busy, so mornings or weekdays offer quieter visits. Note that Freiruum is cashless — cards and mobile payments are accepted for both tickets and food.
