Nestled in the picturesque Barolo region of Northern Italy, Josetta Saffirio winery offers a truly special and welcoming experience for families exploring this renowned wine country. Surrounded by lush vineyards and fragrant orchards, this charming family-run organic winery beautifully blends tradition, sustainability, and fun for visitors of all ages.

What Makes Josetta Saffirio So Family-Friendly?
- From the moment we arrived, the winery went above and beyond to accommodate our group. They thoughtfully reserved a private tasting room just for us, complete with toys and coloring materials, so parents could relax and enjoy their wine tasting while the kids happily played nearby. Our group included two families of four plus two grandparents, and everyone felt right at home.
- The wine tasting itself was a delight, featuring excellent local reds like Barbera d’Alba and the flagship Barolo. We paired the wines with a few charcuterie platters filled with delicious salami, cheeses, bread, and breadsticks. The kids were especially thrilled with the focaccia bread – a definite hit!
- The highlight for the little ones was the Gnome Adventure Trail, an engaging outdoor activity that led them through six fun stations. Along the way, they learned about winemaking, bees, trees, and orchards, all while solving puzzles. Even in the summer heat, the kids loved having the freedom to run around and explore.
- After the trail, we joined a family-friendly cellar tour designed especially for kids. The guides explained everything in an accessible way and encouraged questions, keeping the children curious and engaged throughout the visit.

A Rich Legacy
Founded in the 1970s by Josetta Saffirio and now lovingly run by her daughter Sara Vezza-the fifth generation in the family-the winery crafts delicious Barolo wines that truly reflect the region’s heritage. Our personal favorite was the vibrant Barbera d’Alba, a perfect introduction to Piedmont’s reds.
