Discover Stadtkeller Lucerne: Authentic Swiss Food, Music & Family Fun

If you’re planning a family trip to Lucerne, a visit to Stadtkeller restaurant is a must for an authentic Swiss cultural experience filled with food, music, and fun. We have been there several times with family and friends and have always had a great time. Stadtkeller offers a lively folklore evening show from April to October.

The restaurant has a beer hall vibe and a menu full of Swiss classics like fondue, raclette, schnitzel, and rösti. There is also a children’s menu. We prefer to make reservations for the raised area at the back of the restaurant so the kids can see over the diners in front of the stage. The show is interactive, so families can choose to join in the dancing and yodeling or simply enjoy the performance. My son has played the alphorn, and my daughter has participated in yodeling. The show lasts about 2.5 hours, making it a fun and memorable evening for all ages.

Because the restaurant is very popular, especially with tourists and groups, reservations are strongly recommended. Occasionally, they offer lunch shows, which I think are preferable if you have little ones with early bedtimes. Contact the restaurant by phone or email to make a reservation and inquire about afternoon shows. The show is included in the cost of your meal.

The restaurant is centrally located in the old town, just a 7-minute walk from the main train station. For those arriving by car, I recommend Parkhaus Schweizerhof. Stadtkeller is perfect for families wanting to combine Swiss cuisine with lively traditional entertainment. Make sure to reserve early and get ready for a unique Swiss night out that everyone will enjoy!
