Nestled in the heart of Baar, Switzerland, the Baar Brauerei is a beloved local brewery with a rich history dating back to 1862. Founded by Michael Schmid and his partners, the brewery has remained family-owned for five generations. Known for its award-winning beers and strong community ties, Baar Brauerei has become a staple in the region, celebrated for both its classic and creative brews.

Family-Friendly Dining at the Brauerei Restaurant
Right next to the brewery, you’ll find the welcoming Brauerei Restaurant. This spot is perfect for families, offering a diverse menu with lunch specials and hearty Swiss classics. Child-friendly options like pasta and schnitzel are always available, and portions are generous. We enjoyed a relaxed lunch, pairing our meal with freshly brewed beer from the brewery.

Explore the Store and Brewery Tours
Adjacent to the restaurant is the Brauerei store, where you can browse a wide selection of Baar Brauerei beers, as well as other beverages including wine and spirits. There’s a free parking lot and a small interactive play area to keep kids entertained while you shop. A handy tip: return your used bottles here to receive a discount on your next purchase. While we haven’t yet tried the brewery tour, they are available to book and offer a behind-the-scenes look at one of Switzerland’s oldest brewing traditions—complete with tastings for adults.

Baar Brauerei remains one of our favorite Swiss breweries, thanks to its welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and, of course, excellent beer. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a great option for families looking for a taste of Swiss hospitality and tradition.
