On a sunny day in Lucerne, we visited Bierliebe & Friends, one of the best restaurants in Lucerne if you’re looking for a casual, family-friendly spot with a great view. Nestled in the heart of Lucerne’s old town, right along the scenic Reuss River, this restaurant offers unbeatable views of the famous Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) — making it a perfect place to eat after exploring the city’s historic center.

The outdoor shaded terrace is a great spot to relax, soak in the charm of Lucerne, and watch people strolling across the bridges. With an impressive selection of Swiss and international beers on tap, Bierliebe & Friends is also a favorite for beer lovers in Lucerne. The adults enjoyed sampling seasonal craft brews, while the food was a highlight for the whole family — the Raclette Burger and the special Tzatziki Burger were huge (perfect for sharing), and the crispy fries disappeared quickly.

What really sets this Lucerne restaurant apart is how family-friendly it is: a kids’ menu with crowd-pleasers like hot dogs, baby chairs for toddlers, a changing table, and even toys upstairs to keep little ones entertained. Add in the welcoming service, delicious food, and a location that couldn’t be more central, and it’s easy to see why Bierliebe & Friends is one of the top places to eat in Lucerne. It’s definitely a spot we’d return to on a future Lucerne adventure.
